Bento

by Matt C Jan 16, 2008 at 03:24 PM

Hi

I've been trialling Bento from Filemaker, but can't quite work out if
its tables are fully relational. I can't seem to just grab a field from
one table and list its values as choices for a field in another table.

For example, I have two tables, company and hardware, with fields:

company.name
company.address

hardware.name
hardware.RAM

I then want to be able to pull the company.name into the hardware table
and be able to choose from it when I create a new hardware record;
conversely, I want to be able to list the hardware table within my
company table, but only with the records that pertain to my company.

Right now, I can pull the hardware table into a form for the company
table, but I have to select the records manually from the hardware
table. There seems to be no way to automatically select them based on
the company name I choose.

Does that make sense? Has anyone tried out Bento with this feature in
mind?

thanks!

Matt
