And yet you had the same problem in November _without_ the Macally BT
mouse.  It went away for you then when you changed the double-click to a
lower value.  *I* was just able to generate a -1857 error in MT-NW
2.5.3b2 by attempting to drag one group onto another in a subscribed
groups window, and I have a Kensington TurboMouse trackball.  The -1857
error that I was able to generate by dragging one article onto another
went away after I went to 2.5.3b2 from 2.5.2, but this one exists.

It appears that MT-NW is rather sensitive to -1857 errors under Leopard
(so is Thoth, with which it supposedely shares no code, but that's
another story), and it seems to me that something about the settings for
your Macally mouse just trigger a problem that exists in the program in
the first place.  Since changing the double-click speed once got rid of
the error message for you with a different mouse, have you tried that
now to see if it will work this time?
