Thank you.  I was going to try to find the source of that statistic
(admittedly rough).
However, even if we use those figures, it's still 25%, much greater
than the supposed 3% "market share" of Apple.

The Mac inroads into Windows territory are occurring at the high end.
It doesn't mean that Microsoft would make 4.62 billion extra if they
controlled that segment, too, because Apple sells hardware and
Microsoft doesn't.  But the clientele is upscale, not one you'd lose
willingly.  As for Linux, its inroads into the low end of Windows
territory don't directly deprive Microsoft of much revenue, but they
do force Microsoft to keep their prices down and to keep sup****ting
old OS's longer than they would otherwise.  So that costs them.  Also
forces them into markets they wouldn't bother with otherwise, like
OLPC (no money to be made from poor countries, you know).
