I don't really see it that way. For every Apple user out there using OSX
there is a UNIX user. And a UNIX user happy with Apple. Never heard of
anyone dump and Apple for Vista, but the opposite is true.
But by having more Apple users, it debunks the FUD that UNIX is not good
at
a desktop. UNIX makes a good desktop. And more and more are finding that
out, Linux, Apple EeePC, OLPC and others.
What will be really cool is after time, sooner or later businesses are
going
to realize they can actually run their businesses right to the Linux
desktop, save millions in both licensing and sup****t. Properly installed,
Linux requires a fraction of the hand holding as does MS-Windows.
And Microsoft kind of painted themselves into a corner too. They can't
say
LDAP/kerberos doesn't scale, after all they ripped off the same technology
for their proprietary ones.
Lets face it, Microsoft has capped out on its business model. From here
