Up from 2.5% a year ago... good news for Apple. I believe I read 
somewhere that Apple garnered a 25% dollar share on U.S. retail sales of 
PCs recently (around 14-15% actual marketshare). I'm glad to see that 
this appears to be translating into a rise in global share. I was amazed 
that their desktops system sales grew by 55%... with a 68% revenue 
increase for the desktops; this, in a retail segment that saw a 2% drop 
in revenues! Pretty incredible. I found this interesting in the article:

"Barnicle¹s take has some merit. Oppenheimer noted that a third of the 
Fortune 500 was signed up for the iPhone enterprise beta program. If 
these folks are interested in the iPhone chances are good that they 
aren¹t averse to bring Macs into their IT shops".

A quote in the linked article reads:

"Salesforce.com is giving Macs to all employees. Yup, all 4000 of us; we 
are going to be one of the largest enterprise software Mac shops 
around.  As the leases come up for the Dells, IT is replacing with Macs.

And why, you ask, Security! The resources it takes to defend against all 
the stuff the baddies throw at a PC, it¹s just cheaper/easier to pay a 
few bucks more for a Mac and not have any of those issues.

Apple seems to be positioning itself better these days and they have a 
lot of op****tunity for growth.
