All three sound like they may be caused by a too-old conversion tool.
Just because MacLink Plus is trying to convert it doesn't mean it's the
only and latest version of their converter. Look to see if they have an
updated one.
And, if it is mainly one provider that is sending bad files, tell them
to send the files in a simpler form. It is a standard, common, and
NECESSARY practice that people consider what file types others can use.
No one gets to assume that recipients will solve the problem at their
end, especially by insisting everyone buy the newest software.

Well, every print dialog allows you to select WHICH pages you want to
print. You have NEVER been forced to print pages you didn't need.
