Stuffit Expander is free, and will expand any Stuffit files.
http://my.smithmicro.com/mac/stuffitexpander/index.html
It is a universal app requiring Mac OS 10.4. There are older versions of
Expander if you don't have 10.4.
If you wanted to create stuffed files, then you would have to buy the
Stuffit
program. Sorta like Acrobat Reader versus Acrobat.
This doesn't help, as you have already found a work-around, but if you
wanted
to play around with setting it up on the iMac, you could use the free
Stuffit
Expander. I would go ahead and download Expander, as it will expand
Stuffit
or .zip files, the two common Mac compression file formats.
