For some reason my DVD-RW discs won't mount after being erased.
I've tried several DVDs, so the problem isn't with a particular,
damaged media. And they mount fine to begin with (I've used them a few
times before) as there's data on them.
So once the DVD-RW has been inserted in my Powerbook (and mounts on
the desktop) I start "Disk utility" and choose to quick erase the
disk, as I've always done. After a while I'm done, but the disc
doesn't show up on the desktop. (Yes, I've also tried erasing the
"slow" and "complete" way, but that yielded no different results).
So I press the "Eject" button on my keyboard, then re-insert the DVD.
Still no mounting on the desktop.
In Disk utility (on the left hand side) I can see a disc icon, but
that only represents the drive itself. There should be a second disc
icon below it which represents the DVD and/or burn-session, but
nothing there.
I can't remember ever having had problems with this before, so I ran
"Applejack" by booting into single-mode, just to be sure the problem
wasn't with owner****p or something like that. But that didn't help
either.
Now I have no idea what to do.
I'm on a Powerbook G4 (1.67GHz, 1.5 GB RAM) with a dual-layer
Superdrive and MacOS 10.4.9.
