GNU software on MBP

by Rupert Woodman <rupert@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Oct 10, 2007 at 10:42 PM

Hi,

I've just bought a Macbook Pro, and generally we make a lovely couple.

However, I need to run Eclipse with Tomcat. Tomcat is distributed in a
format which requires GNU tar. I don't seem to be able to download
binaries for GNU tar, so I hav to install GNU C, which doesn't come with
make - it is turning into a real faff.

So, what do people do about this - do they download and compile
everything step by step, or is there somewhere I can download
pre-compiled binaries such as GNU tar?

Many thanks
