Bypassing router's firewall and ****t forwarding

by Anic <sans@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Aug 8, 2007 at 10:31 PM

Hello,

Here's my configuration (I'm not an expert in network strategies and my
english is not perfect, sorry):

A PowerBook with firewall deactivated;
A "switch" (correct term?) which provides air****t and normal RJ 45
connections. My PowerBook is connected using Air****t to this switch;
An ADSL modem. It is connected to the switch in the "input" ****t.

I have two goals: 1) allowing my PowerBook to be a "server" 2) removing
any firwall that blocks ****ts.

For 1), I have put some files in the "Sites" folder. I have tested with
another computer on the same network (at the switch level) and it works.
But since my IP address changes all the time, I can't tell someone to
reach my machine more than once. I tried no-ip.com but I don't know
enough about that (for instance what is DNS CNAME or DNS A).

For 2), I have tried some ****ts forwarding and DMZ. I tried ****ts
forwarding to both the switch and the modem (which appear to have a
built-in firewall) and DMZ to only the switch (since I don't see that
option in the configuration web page of the modem; the documentation is
poor, even on Internet).

Some light is really welcome.
Thanks in advance.
