old printers and OS X?

by KaPOP <kapop@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 17, 2007 at 04:07 PM

I recently started using OS X (10.4.3) on an eMac (40 gb HD, 1.25 gHz,
256 mb RAM). I have access to a parallel/USB adapter cable and an HP
DeskJet 970Cse Pro Series printer - or my old Epson Stylus Color
printer. Is there an OS X driver available for either of these and, if
so, do they actually work? I noticed a driver package called GutenPrint
on versiontracker.com but the DL file size is well over 14 mb and I have
a dial up connection so it would take me roughly, oh I dunno, half of
forever to DL!

TIA,

Karl
