Netscape newsreader "timing out" (or something).

by KaPOP <kapop@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 16, 2007 at 10:05 AM

Hey, all. I'm using Netscape 7.2 for reading newsgroups (and really for
nothing else). I have it set to require user name and PW each time I
access my news server. But if I spend too long (say, longer than a
couple of minutes) reading a message, Netscape asks for the sign in info
(UN & PW) again before moving on to the next message. Trouble is, it
won't let me enter it! It picks a letter of the alphabet (usually "c"
and/or "r") and then won't accept that letter in the required field. As
a result, I wind up having to quit Netscape and restart it before I can
continue reading NGs. Any idea what gives here and what to do about it?
Never had that happen when using Netscape 4.7 in OS 9.1 (which I used
until just last month).

Karl

P.S. Machine is an eMac running 10.4.3, 1.25g, 256mb, and dial-up
connection w/56k modem, if any of that is relevant here.
