OK, here's the situation. It's a bit confusing, so bear with me
I have a gentleman who has three email accounts, two POP, and one
IMAP. They all are configured to access their email boxes with the
same username and password. The two POP accounts reside on the same
IP, and the IMAP account goes through an exchange server with a
different IP.
The problem he is currently having on his machine is with Mac Mail.
Whenever he receives an email message, it correctly delivers it to the
corresponding folder, but with a kick; it leaves TWO copies of the
message, not one.
I'm going nuts over this, since I can't find an easy fix. I called Mac
support, and they tried having me remove the rules I made in Mail and
then re-do them, all to no avail. They kicked me up two Tier II
support, and all he could suggest would be to either get the latest
update (10.3.3), or else try an Archive recovery, since he said that
Mail might be corrupted. Ideally, I would like to NOT do this, since
there is a LOT of email on this machine, and I'm paranoid.
I also tried configuring Entourage to mimic these same settings, and
everything works like a charm in Entourage.
So, two things to ask;
1) Any ideas on how to eliminate this duplicate message annoyance?
2) If not, what are the big advantages of Mail over Entourage? It is
worthwhile in this case to just use Entourage?
