Really need more info.  If you have a G3 iMac, you can run either OS 9 or
OS
X.  Do you have disks for OS 9?

What 4 disks do you have?  OS X 10.2 came with 2 for me, so your situation
is somewhat confusing.

Are any of the CD's just dirty or scratched in some way?... Perhaps the
error message is just the installer saying that it can't properly read one
of the files on the CD that it needs for install.  If so and cleaning
doesn't help, then getting an exchange from Apple may be your best bet.
